This blog is to share the story of how I began in my Cybersecurity journey, the people and organisations that have been a tremendous help and the resources that I have used and continue to use to broaden my knowledge and stay up to date.

I started out with Information Technology at NIIT (in Ghana). That was where my love for computers began.

Per Scholas provided me with free training and free voucher for two certification (Network+,Security+). My technical instructor Julius Kioko was very selfless, he gave his heart and soul into teaching his students. I would encourage anyone who is starting out and has a desire to break into Cybersecurity to check out www.persholas.org.

Paul Oyelakin has mentored me and taught me a great deal about working in the real world.

I have used many resources to expand my knowledge. I am thankful to Philip Wylie for mentioning the INE course to me. I am grateful to INE for the free provision they made for me the study the eJPT. I would encourage anyone who wants to follow the pentest path to check out the free starter pass at www.ine.com.

While I was studying for the Azure Security Engineer certification. The resources that helped me were Microsoft Learn, Peter Zerger’s Linkedin course and AZ-500 Exam Cram series on YouTube. Also Alan Rodrigues’ Udemy course on AZ-500.

YouTube has some great content on Cybersecurity and I use it a lot as well. I just type in the keyword I am looking for and I amlost always find what I need. Some Channels that I would personally recommend are: Cyber Insecurity, Simply Cyber, David Bombal,Alan Rodrigues, Inside Cloud and Security, Geek’s Lesson, CS, Splunk, Microsoft Azure, Juhn Savill, PJ PROS, Inside Azure Management, Convo Courses, Tigh Tech Consult, Philip Wylie, SANS Institute, Wild West Hacking Fest, Thetips4you, John Hammond, Amazon Web Services, Pace IT Online, INEtraining, ITPro TV, Infosec, Infosec Train, The Cyber Mentor, Infosec Pat, EC Council, CloudSkills, Networkchuck.

Webinars are also a great way to keep up with new trends in technology as well as growing one’s knowledge. I am thankful to John Strand and his team for organising the Pay What You Can webinars. These webinars have provided a wealth of knowledge and makes it possible to any one to have access to top class education.

Cybersecurity requires a dedication to life long learning and with so much to learn and discover, I must say I am ready for the challenge.
